DISPLAY TEST MODE 1
How to enter Test mode
Press and hold "PHONE" and "LIST" buttons together, and turn BUP and ACC on.

SOFTWARE VERSION UP METHOD
Overview
This mode is used for upgrading the MCU software of system using USB memory.
How to enter in USB rewriting mode
Press and hold "1" and "2" buttons together, and turn BUP and ACC on.
CD ADJUSTMENT
1) Cautions on adjustments
In this product the single voltage (3.3 V) is used for the regulator. The reference voltage is the REFO1 (1.65 V) instead of the GND.
If you should mistakenly short the REFO1 with the GND during adjustment, accurate voltage will not be obtained, and the servo’s misoperation will apply excessive shock to the pickup. To avoid such problems:
a. Do not mix up the REFO1 with the GND when connecting the (-) probe of measuring instruments.
Especially on an oscilloscope, avoid connecting the (-) probe for CH1 to the GND.
b. In many cases, measuring instruments have the same potential as that for the (-) probe. Be sure to set the measuring instruments to the floating state.
c. If you have mistakenly connected the REFO1 to the GND, turn off the regulator or the power immediately.
Before mounting and removing filters or leads for adjustment, be sure to turn off the regulator.
For stable circuit operation, keep the mechanism operating for about one minute or more after the regulator is turned on.
In the test mode, any software protections will not work. Avoid applying any mechanical or electrical shock to the mechanism during adjustment.
The RFAGC and RFO signals with a wide frequency range are easy to oscillate. When observing the signals, insert a resistor of 1k ohms in series.
The load and eject operation is not guarantied with the mechanism upside down. If the mechanism is blocked due to mistaken eject operation, reset the product or turn off and on the ACC to restore it.
2) Test mode
This mode is used to adjust the CD mechanism module.
To enter the test mode.
press [4] + [6] > Reset
To exit from the test mode.
Turn off the ACC and back up.
Notes:
a. During ejection, do not press any other keys than the EJECT key until the loaded disc is ejected.
b. If you have pressed the [RIGHT] key or [LEFT] key during focus search, turn off the power immediately to protect the actuator from damage caused by the lens stuck.
c. For the TR jump modes except 100TR, the track jump operation will continue even if the key is released.
d. For the CRG move and 100TR jump modes, the tracking loop will be closed at the same time when the key is released.
e. When the power is turned off and on, the jump mode is reset to the single TR (91), the RF amp gain is set to 0 dB, and the auto-adjustment values are reset to the default settings.
ERROR CODE LIST
If a CD memory device is inoperable, or operation of such media is stopped by an error, the error mode is established and a cause of the error is displayed by an error code.

SERVICE MODE
Switching to service mode
While pressing the [TEL] (1) key, within 0.5sec., touch upper left corner (2) of the touch panel, and then within 2 sec., touch upper right corner (3) of the touch panel.
SREVICE MODE MENU
1. INITIALIZE ALL MENU
# Initialize backup memory, installer memory
# Initialize DISC module (Initialize to normal).
# Initialize Bluetooth module.
# Initialize user-captured wall paper area.
Clear the user-captured area of APP u-com F. ROM and bring back to the default condition (all black).
# Do not clear touch panel adjustment data/ TUNER adjustment data/ TUNER span information/ serial number.
When INITIALIZE terminated abnormally
Determine error in each block of SYSTEM/ DISC/ BT.
# In case of Bluetooth, Initialize Error is also considered as abnormal termination
Discontinue process once NG is detected, and display the corresponding error as follows.
NG SYSTEM: Clearing of the unit set EEP (APP management and SYS management) terminated abnormally
NG DISC: Clearing of DISC module EEPROM terminated abnormally.
NG BT: BT module initialization terminated abnormally.
The screen will  retained until the [EXIT] key is pressed.
When the [EXIT] key is pressed, normal screen is brought back.
2. TEMPERATURE
Displays DISC module temperature (displays in 3 digits).
Acquires data from the module and updates the display every 30
seconds, as is done in the normal operation mode.
3. BT MICROPHONE TEST
The mode for confi rming the normal operation of BT audio circuit by inputting audio from MIC and outputting from the speaker.
# Switch the audio selector to Bluetooth.
# Send Bluetooth Loopback START command to TCC.
# Send to TCC the command for setting Mic Gain, set at Gain 2 (fixed).
While executing MICROPHONE TEST
Retain the above screen until [EXIT] key or [BACK] key is pressed.
MICROPHONE TEST completed
This mode can be cleared only by turning the power OFF.
[BACK] / [EXIT] keys prohibited
4. BT DONGLE CHECK MODE
Mode for checking if the Telechips module USB terminal operates electrically normally.
Test only after the BT dongle is inserted.
Upon moving to this mode, display the following after the BT dongle is correctly detected.
[BACK] key: Returns to the SS mode or service mode screen
[EXIT] key: Exits the SS mode or service mode Display the following if the BT dongle cannot be correctly detected.
[BACK] key: Returns to the SS mode or service mode screen
[EXIT] key: Exits the SS mode or service mode
If the inserted BT dongle is inserted while the above NG screen is displayed, switch to the OK display.
5. FIRMWARE UPDATE MODE
(1) [SYSCOM] key
Perform Update when a USB device containing the Update data is inserted.
# Select a USB source before moving to the service mode.
# Beep sound is output while Update is in progress and when it is complete, so make sure a speaker is connected.
Output beep sound at regular intervals while Update is in progress.
Do not renew display after Update is complete. Alter the interval of beep sound to notify its completion.
Press the Reset button after Update is complete to return to normal operation
(2) [APPCOM] key
Perform Update when a USB device containing the Update data is inserted.
*Select a USB source before moving to the service mode.
(3) [Bluetooth] key
# When a BT dongle is inserted in the Telechips USB terminal or when nothing is inserted  > No transition of operation.
# When a USB memory is inserted in the Telechips USB terminal >Transit to the following screen, send [Play] key to the address USB, and allow reading of fi les in the USB memory.
#If update information (Update file in the ROOT folder) command is received, control thereafter follows the specifications of the module.
# If USB fi le information command is received, it is considered that Update data was not acknowledged and the following screen is displayed.
# Or, the same screen is displayed when update information (update error) is received.
Please POWER OFF WILL  displayed when is update successful
Production mode
Key operation when going into production mode
Press and hold the [FNC] key (1) and press the [RESET] key (2).
SS mode
Switching to SS mode
Press and hold the [TEL] key (1) and, within 0.5 sec., touch the upper right corner (2) of the touch panel

TEST MODE
Setting method:
1. In the state of source off (the clock is displayed on the liquid crystal display), enter the test mode by pressing the buttons on the remote commander in order of the [4] >  [5] >  [1] (press only the [1] button for two seconds).
2. It is set to the test mode, and all segments of the liquid crystal display light.
Releasing method:
Press the [SOURCE OFF] button for 1 second.
MICROPHONE AUDIO LOOPBACK
To confirm the state of the internal microphone used when a handsfree function is used, the microphone audio is output from the speaker.
Procedure:
1. Enter the test mode.
2. Press the [SOURCE OFF] button to select the Bluetooth Phone function.
3. On/off of the microphone audio loopback function changes whenever the [ALBUM UP 2] button is pressed (“ALBM” is displayed in the liquid crystal display)
BLUETOOTH FUNCTION CHECKING METHOD USING A CELLULAR PHONE
1. Required Equipment
Set to be tested (DSX-M50BT)
Cellular phone
Bluetooth audio devices
Speaker connection
DC power supply (12 V)
2. Preparation
Confirm the setting of the DSX-M50BT, and note down it.
Press the [CALL] button and rotate the control dial until “PAIRING” appears, then press it, confirm that the Bluetooth signal icon  is flashing.
Turn on the Bluetooth function of the cellular phone.
3. Test Environment
No other Bluetooth device is making a communication in the periphery (within 20 m).
No other DSX-M50BT are supplied with electric power.
There are no two or more wireless LAN access points in the periphery (with 50 m) (one is OK).
The set should be tested in a place such as a meeting room, free from ambient noise.
The speaker at the far end should be in a place such as another meeting room separated acoustically.

Precautions
Beware of the following points when conducting the talking test:
# There is no fault if a talking can be made by adjusting appropriately the volume of the telephone of the other party and the cellular phone connected through the Bluetooth, besides the setup of DSX-M50BT.
# The speaker’s voice will become loud naturally if the periphery is noisy, or become low if quiet (even though the speaker intents to talk on the same volume level).
# The speaker’s voice will become loud naturally if the other party’s voice is loud.
Bluetooth Phone (Hands Free) Function Check
1. Search for this unit from the Bluetooth device (cellular phone), and confirm whether this unit (“Sony Automotive”) is displayed.
2. Search for the distance of this unit and the Bluetooth device (cellular phone) about 5 m apart.
Confirm whether the Bluetooth device (or this unit) is displayed after it searches.
3. Do the pairing of the cellular phone and this unit (input of pass key).
4. Connect the cellular phone with this unit, and confirm the “HF” icon lights.
5. Confirm the connection continues even if the distance of the cellular phone and this unit is separated by about 5 m.
6. Set this unit besides the “BT PHONE” source, and call the cellular phone connected with this unit.
Confirm the automatic change of this unit into “BT PHONE” source, and the change into the screen for incoming calls.
Confirm the ring tone is heard from the speaker.
7. Take a phone call (press the [CALL] button), and start a conversation.
Confirm the other person voice is heard from the front speaker.
Speak toward the microphone of this unit, and confirm whether the other party hears its voice.
Compare the sound quality with a normal set. Confirm that there is no big difference.
8. Turn on ACC from off, and confirm whether this unit connects Bluetooth with the cellular phone again.
Note: Depending on the cellular phone, it might not reconnect automatically when ACC is turned on.
Bluetooth Audio Function Check
Note:
Depending on the connecting BT Audio device, track information (e.g. track name, playback time) can be on display.
If the device doesn’t support AVRCP1.3, or, if AVRCP1.3 feature of the device has not been validated with DSX-M50BT; the track information won’t be shown.
Even if there is no track information on display during playback of an AVRCP1.3 device, it is not a failure of DSX-M50BT.
1. Connect the Bluetooth audio device (or cellular phone with Bluetooth audio function) with this unit, and confirm the “Audio Streaming” icon lights.
2. Playback Bluetooth audio. Confirm the sound is emitted from this unit when this unit is switched to “Bluetooth Audio” source.
3. Confirm whether Bluetooth audio can be controlled by operating this unit (the [SEEK+ ], [SEEK– ] and [PAUSE ] buttons operation).
Note: Varies depending on the connected Bluetooth audio device.
INITIALIZING BLUETOOTH
Procedure:
1. In the state of source off (the clock is displayed), press and hold the [PUSH ENTER/SELECT] button.
2. Rotate the control dial, and select the “BT INIT”.
3. Press the [PUSH ENTER/SELECT] button, and the message “INIT-NO” is displayed on the liquid crystal display.
4. Rotate the control dial clockwise, and the message “INITYES” is displayed on the liquid crystal display.
5. Press the [PUSH ENTER/SELECT] button, and the message “INITIAL” is blinked on the liquid crystal display.
6. When “Bluetooth Initialize” is completed, the message “COMPLETE” is displayed on the liquid crystal display for a moment.
7. Press the [ RUTURN /MODE] button, and return to the state of source off (the clock is displayed) mode.

Preparing the Destination Setting
Be sure to solder the SL003 on the MAIN board before doing the destination setting.

Destination Setting
Set destination according to the procedure below.
Setting the Destination Code
1. In the state of source off (the demonstration is displayed), enter the test mode by pressing the buttons in order of the [4] >[5]  >  [6] (press only the [6] button for two seconds).
2. The following screen is displayed and the destination setting mode becomes effective.
3. The resetting operation is executed by pressing the [SOURCE/ OFF] button for 1 second after the setting ends, and the unit returns to the normal condition.
Entering the Destination Code
Note:
Input of the destination code cannot be performed by the keys of main unit. Be sure to input the destination code by remote commander.
1. Press the [UP ] or [ DOWN] button, and select the alphanumeric character of “0 to F”.
2. The digit advances by pressing the [ LEFT] button.
The digit returns by pressing the [RIGHT] button.
3. The setting is completed by pressing the [ENTER] button, and the initialization operation is done.

Confirmation After Destination Setting
Execute the following operation after completing the destination setting, and confirm a correct destination was set.
Destination setting checking method:
1. In the state of source off (the clock is displayed on the liquid crystal display), enter the test mode by pressing the buttons in order of the [4] >  [5] >  [0] (press only the [0] button for two seconds).
2. The screen is displayed and confirm that item of the destination has been rewritten correctly.
3. The resetting operation is executed by pressing the [SOURCE/ OFF] button for 1 second after the confirming ends, and the unit returns to the normal condition.
Processing After the Destination Setting
Be sure to unsolder the SL003 on the MAIN board after doing the destination setting.
If any of the following parts was replaced, execute the “Flicker
Adjustment” as mentioned below.

FLICKER ADJUSTMENT
Procedure:
1. The setting of “1. SETTINGS” is completed.
2. Input the NTSC white 40% raster signal from AUX VIDEO IN jack on the rear side of main unit.
3. In the state of source off, press the [4] >  [5] > [4] (keeps pressing) button on the remote commander.
The test mode 4 starts, and the following screen is displayed on the monitor.
4. “dr0” is input by the communication software and “Enter” key is pressed.
The following numerical value returns from the set.
“Read Channel0:0x**”
**: Hexadecimal (“00” to “FF”)
5. To change the adjusted value, “dw0 ##” is input by the communication software and “Enter” key is pressed.
The following numerical value returns from the set.
“Write Channel0:0x##”
##: Hexadecimal (“00” to “FF”)
Adjust so that the flicker becomes minimum in the sight.
6. “ds” is input by the communication software and “Enter” key is pressed and the numerical value is saved.
7. The “Reset” button is pressed and turn the power off.
