Harman kardon AVR254 – How rest the AVR – Amplifier circuit diagram

Erase a macro
1. Simultaneously press and hold the Activity Button and the Numeric Key or AVR Power On Button assigned to the activity until the Source Selector or AVR Settings Button lights.
2. Press the Activity Button to erase the macro.
Resetting the Remote
To reset the remote to its factory defaults, simultaneously press and hold the TV
Source Selector and the “0” Alphanumeric Key. When the TV Button re-lights,enter the code “333”. When the TV Button goes out, and all of the Source Selectors flash, the remote will have been fully reset.
Processor Reset
There may be instances when you wish to fully reset the AVR 254 to its factorydefaults, or the unit may behave erratically after a power surge. To correct erraticbehavior, first try turning the Master Power Switch off and unplugging the ACpower cord for at least three minutes. Plug the cord back in and turn the receiverback on. If this doesn’t help, try a system reset.
NOTES:
# A system reset erases all user configurations, including video resolution, speaker and level settings, and tuner presets. After a reset, you will need to reenter all of these settings.
# The RS-232 Reset Button on the rear panel of the AVR 254 does not perform a system reset. DO NOT press the RS-232 Reset Button.
To reset the AVR 254, place the receiver in Standby mode (press the front panel Standby/On Switch so that the Power Indicator turns amber).
Then press and hold the front-panel OK Button for at least five seconds until theRESET message appears in the display.
Memory
If the AVR 254 is unplugged or experiences a power outage, it will retain usersettings for one month.

Cause: An excessive current flowed through the power amplifier.
Supplementary information: As current of the power amplifier is detected, the abnormal channel can be identified by checking the current detect transistor.
Turning on the power without correcting the abnormality will cause the protection function to work immediately and the power supply will instantly be shut off.
When the protection function worked due to abnormal DC output
Cause: DC output of the power amplifier is abnormal.
Supplementary information: The protection function worked due to a DC voltage appearing at the speaker terminal. A cause could be a defect in the amplifier.
Turning on the power without correcting the abnormality will cause the protection function to work in 5 seconds and the power supply will be shut off
When the protection function worked due to abnormal voltage in the power supply section.
Cause: The voltage in the power supply section is abnormal.
Supplementary information: The protection function worked due to a defect or overload in the power supply.
Turning on the power without correcting the abnormality will cause the protection function to work in 1 seconds and the power supply will be shut off.
When the protection function worked due to excessive heatsink temperature.
Cause: The temperature of the heatsink is excessive.
Supplementary information: The protection function worked due to the temperature limit being exceeded.
Causes could be poor ventilation or a defect related to the thermal sensor.
Turning on the power without correcting the abnormality will cause the protection function to work in 1 seconds and the power supply will be shut off.

Amplifier Diagnosis without Current Applied
The most common symptom of the power amplifier failure is the destruction of the power amplifier output stage or the power amplifier power circuit due to the heavy load, which is, for example, caused by short of the speaker terminal or the use of the non-guaranteed low impedance speaker.
If the protection circuit immediately shuts it down immediately after the current is applied, it is highly likely that it is the above symptom.
The procedure to diagnose/repair without applying current is shown below.
Before starting the diagnosis, wait for three minutes until the electricity is discharged.
1.Check that the MOSFET is not shorted (Ex.) Q4100, Q4101
2.Check that the gate resistance is not damaged (Ex.) R4148, R4149
3.Check that the gate diode is not damaged (Ex.) D4101, D4102
4.Check that the gate drive transistor is not damaged (Ex.) Q4102, Q4103, Q4104, Q4105

5.Diagnosis of the output stage power supply.
6.Check that the fuses FU61 and FU62 are not burned out
7.Check that the transistors Q7300 and Q7301 are not damaged
8.Check that the diodes D7308 and D7310 are not damaged
9.Diagnosis of the driver power supply.
10.Check that the fuse FU15 is not burned out
11.Diagnosis of the power amplifier drive circuit (The example below uses the wiring No. of FLch) (When the driver power supply has an error, it is suspected that the power amplifier drive circuit also has an error)
12.Check that the driver IC is not damaged (IC4101)
13.Check that the L and R connected in series to the power supply are not damaged (L4104, R4147).
